About Sony TTL
TTL or "Thru-the-Lens" flash metering means the camera evaluates the scene and communicates exposure information directly to the compatible flash. The camera automatically adjusts the power output of the external flash so you don't have to.
TTL exposure is faster and typically more accurate than setting the flash output manually. TTL can be the difference between getting a properly exposed image or not, especially when shooting fast-moving subjects and subjects that are moving towards or away from you. Soften and widen the beam of your Ikelite DS161, DS160, or DS125 Substrobe with this Dome Diffuser. It reduces backscatter, glare, and hard shadows for better overall image quality, while providing a greater angle of coverage to allow you to illuminate more of that coral reef or shipwreck on the sea floor. The dome shape spreads light wider than a traditional flat shape, enabling you to cover more ground. Additionally, the diffuser has a high transmission rate to reduce light loss and preserves the normal color temperature of your strobe. The dome is easily attached to the front of the DS161, DS160, or DS125 by way of secure press-fit method. A lanyard ring and lanyard are included.

The DS161 combines power with wide angle coverage to give you the most bang for your buck. This kit provides everything you need to add a strobe to any Ikelite TTL system for Compact Digital, Mirrorless, or DSLR camera.
The quality of light is exceptional due to a round flash tube and custom powder coated reflector designed specifically to deliver the softest, most even coverage possible. Strobes with a straight flashtube may be capable of high powers, but require the addition of a diffuser to spread out their sharp, rectangular beam pattern and reduce the harsh hot spot. The DS161 beam is designed to be perfectly soft and wide spread through its reflector design, and is capable of providing you the coverage and power you want and avoiding the one f/stop loss caused by adding a diffuser.
DS160 and DS161 strobes are legendary for their ability to keep up in rapid firing situations—a cut above any flash on the market. Electrical sync connection and a high-capacity battery pack provide the speed you need to capture fast moving subjects like sharks and sailfish at just the right millisecond.

Overview
Converts the electrical bulkhead of any Ikelite DS strobe into a fiber optic port.
Updates
This 3rd Generation of the Fiber Optic Converter features a hard anodized aluminum plug connection which reduces weight without sacrificing durability. It is recommended for use with any Ikelite strobe produced September 2018 or later with a hard anodized aluminum bulkhead.
Like the 2nd Generation model, this Fiber Optic Converter features heightened sensitivity for use with SEA&SEA or Nauticam housings with internal electrical-to-optical flash triggering devices. These devices translate the camera's electrical signals into a series of LED flashes which are much less bright than a traditional built-in camera flash. The Fiber Optic Converter is also compatible with any system where the camera's built-in flash can be seen by a fiber optic cord.
Attachment and Use
The Converter simply attaches to the strobe's electrical bulkhead in place of a sync cord connector. The enlarged slave window provides approximately 90 degrees field of view for remote triggering.
The Fiber Optic Converter automatically configures itself for compatibility with both pre-flash and non pre-flash camera modes. No setting of small switches or confusion over number of pre-flashes. Simply turn on your strobe and take one picture to configure. This adapter is a manual exposure (non-TTL) trigger only. The strobe's output may be adjusted using the manual power settings built into the strobe (varies by model).
An individual Fiber Optic Converter and compatible cord is needed for each strobe. Use of two strobes requires two Fiber Optic Converters.
This converter attaches to an Ikelite DS strobe. It is not intended to be attached to a housing and will provide no functionality if attached to an Ikelite bulkhead in a housing.
Alternatives
There are two shooting scenarios where the High Sensitivity Optical Slave Converter # 4405 would be a better option:
- If you're shooting a DSLR or mirrorless camera with Nauticam fiber optic converter and want to shoot at a higher frame rate (4 FPS or faster).
- If your primary purpose is to trigger your strobes remotely at a distance from the housing without a fiber optic cable in between.
